What made you choose your institution over others?
Being able to live in London, the course specs, the facilities, and the reputation.
What did you wish you knew before choosing your specific program?
I would have liked to have known more detail about my program, including the elements that we focus on (e.g. lit-heavy/essay writing etc).
What was your best experience at university?
The French grammar classes led by French trainee teachers - amazing!
What was your worst university experience?
My second term was effectively non-existent due to the impact of industrial strikes and COVID-19.
What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?
The academic nature of the program with regards to the essay turn around: one 2,000 word essay every fortnight, meaning a new French text every 2-3 weeks.
What was your favourite module/course and why?
'Writing London'. I learnt a lot about the city I live in, including its theatrical, literary and social history.
What tips and advice would you give to first year students?
Research your course and make sure it's something that you will enjoy doing. There is no point applying for something purely based on employability/rate of graduate success if you aren't passionate or interested by it; it will become a chore. Pick something you love!
