What made you choose your institution over others?

The university name carries great weight in employment opportunities. However, the college system does make it harder to make friends with people outside of your college.

What did you wish you knew before choosing your specific program?

The maths course is extremely good. I wish I started with better work habits.

What was your best experience at university?

I really liked the balls and formals. They are unique to the university and are extremely fun. Lots of time is put into decorations and planning.

What was your worst university experience?

Too much work and feeling overwhelmed. Especially with a lot of contact hours, you have to stay on top of the work. It was very easy to fall behind and into a cycle of confusion.

What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?

It was hard at first to know what I needed to learn and what was just good for explanations. Different professors make emphasis on different things and so it took some time to realise the important parts. Looking at the past papers helped me get a better understanding of what they were expecting us to know.

What was your favourite module/course and why?

Linear algebra, mainly because my professor - Dr Dorigoni - was amazing and so clear at explaining concepts. I particularly liked that he used phrases like "this is simple if we consider...." which made me think the content was more familiar than I expected.

What tips and advice would you give to first year students?

Be active, no one is going to hold your hand. It is good to do as much as you can outside lessons but also make sure you don't fall behind on work.
